Pregnancy is nine months of being told how to feel. Glowing, grateful, calm. The real thing is usually excitement and fear in the same breath, a body that changes faster than you can agree to, and a lot of waiting. These affirmations were written for that, not for the greeting card.
First trimester: the secret and the sickness
- •My body knows how to do this, even on the days my mind is not sure.
- •I can be excited and scared in the same breath. Both are allowed.
- •Feeling awful is not a sign that something is wrong. It is a sign that something is happening.
- •I am already a mother. The caring started long before the meeting.
- •I do not have to announce anything before I am ready.
Second trimester: the body that is not yours alone
- •Every kick, every quiet hour, every worry: I am learning to listen to someone I have not met yet.
- •My body is building someone. It gets to look like it.
- •I will ask the question even if it feels silly. My peace of mind matters too.
- •I can plan and still let the plan change.
- •Rest is not falling behind. Rest is how I am building someone.
Third trimester: the waiting
- •I do not have to have it all figured out before they arrive. Nobody does.
- •Slow is the right speed for these weeks.
- •I am allowed to be done with being pregnant and still grateful for it.
- •My worries are a sign of how much I already care, not a prediction.
- •I will meet them soon. Until then, I meet myself with patience.
For labour and birth
- •One wave at a time. I only ever have to get through this one.
- •However this baby arrives, I will have given birth.
- •I can change my mind about anything in that room. It is my body and my birth.
- •My job is to breathe. The people around me will do the rest.
- •I am about to meet someone I already love.
How to use them in pregnancy
Pick one per trimester and put it where you will see it: the bathroom mirror during the sick weeks, the car during the appointments, the hospital bag for the birth. Say it out loud when you can. If anxiety about the pregnancy is constant or keeps you from sleeping, mention it to your midwife; perinatal anxiety is common and there is good support for it.
Where Confident Mom fits
In the app, the expecting stage has its own lines and its own reminders, and the library follows you into the newborn weeks without you having to set anything up again.
Confident Mom is a daily affirmations app written only for mothers. You tell it how many children you have and how old they are, what weighs on you most, and when you want to hear from it. It then sends a few lines a day, one affirmation per notification, chosen for your season, and it keeps a two-minute practice and an "I need a minute" breathing break ready for the hard moments. It is free to start on iOS and Android.
